Coby & Erika's Hideout on the Horseshoe Wedding | Austin Wedding Photographer

The true definition of a love story! I've been waiting oh so patiently to shoot this wedding since last year and what a time I had celebrating with everyone who was in attendance. From the emotional first look to the french toast that made me feel as though I hadn't truly lived yet, Erika and Coby's wedding day was nothing short of amazing.

How We Connected

If you checked out the engagement session I blogged about Coby and Erika you'd know that I met Erika at a Big Brothers, Big Sisters event I covered in Houston in 2017. I may have said hi to her two or three times throughout the evening as I was in 'work' mode making sure I captured everything I needed to. (You can check out the gallery from that event here.) After delivering the final product I received an email from Erika asking if we could speak further about wedding photography. The rest is history I suppose.

After we decided to move forward they were so kind to treat me to dinner after I shot their engagement session in Houston and it was amazing getting to know more about them and how they met. Coby put the moves on Erika when he gave her a stuffed koala bear on their first date and boom! Marriage. lol.

The Ceremony

Coby and Erika choose to celebrate their wedding day at the GORGEOUS Hideout on The Horseshoe wedding & event venue. This venue was literally next level as the upper portion of the venue was home to several of cabins and views of the Guadalupe River while the ceremony/event space was located down a long, stone staircase right next to the water's edge. The ceremony was filled with emotion as Erika and Coby swapped both vows and tears in front of their closest friends and family. Afterward, there were family photos, laughs and unscripted dog kisses by one of the groomsmen as we prepared to make the trek up the stone staircase to get the party started.

The Reception

Where do I begin! I'm not sure if I've ever enjoyed a wedding reception as much as this one. First things first, the food was on another level!! Erika and Coby brought in Root Cellar Catering Co. and they shut it down. My favorite part was the shrimp and grits and the french toast! I took one bite and the heavens opened up with a sea of angels who whispered in my ear, 'boy you better eat some more!' I'd be lying if I told you I had less than three plates.

Don't get me started on the band. Austin Party Band (APB) brought the house all the way down and I found myself grooving while behind the camera all night. They performed renditions of lots of popular songs and Theresa, one of the lead singers, was awesome! She mingled with the crowd, cracked jokes and put everyone in the mood to party! Highlight of the evening though? When Coby hopped on stage in front of everyone and performed a flawless cover of Rappers Delight. Dude has bars!!

This was one of those weddings that after you get in your car to drive away you pause for a moment and just send a quick thank you prayer up to God. Thank you for connecting me with such an amazing couple and thank you for giving me the desire to capture such important moments for such great people. Congratulations Erika and Coby on your marriage and I can't wait to see what you two accomplish together!

Chris & Monica's CW Hill Country Ranch Wedding | Austin Wedding Photographer

How We Connected

Monica and Chris were referred to me by Dustin Baker, a good friend and owner of Lone Oak Studios down in Corpus Christi. The three of us met in person at their new home and I had so much fun getting to know more about them and what they were looking for in a wedding photographer. They opted to book a package that included their engagement session and I had a blast shooting that session right in their backyard a few weeks later.

The Ceremony

Chris and Monica held their wedding ceremony at the beautiful CW Hill Country Ranch out in Boerne, TX. It was my first time shooting at this venue and I had such a great time exploring different areas that we would use for their first look, portraits and detail shots. Before these two lovebirds enjoyed their first look, Monica sent Chris a heartfelt video message just prior to her greeting him around the back of the main reception hall where a large texas state flag was painted. The perfect backdrop for such an awesome couple. They exchanged gifts, kisses and tons of laughs as I captured them seeing each other for the last time before becoming husband and wife.

The Reception

What more could you ask for in a wedding reception? These two had great cake (I had two slices), lots of smiles,  a fog machine first dance, hilarious toasts and endless laughs. Monica and Chris are my personal pick for couple of the decade! (Does that award exist?) Everything up to and including their glow stick exit was so fun and easygoing and I at the end of the night I love feeling like I was a part of something epic. Sometime I have to stop and remind myself that I'm so so blessed that I get to document such amazing people on their most important day. This wedding was one for the books!!

Travion & Stephanie's Canyon Springs Golf Club Wedding | San Antonio

One of the things I really enjoyed about connecting with Tray and Stephanie is that they are just good people. Both are teachers and they met while doing the teach for america program. I thought that was pretty awesome!

For their wedding they chose the Canyon Springs Golf Club as their venue and it was a great one! They had their first look by this awesome waterfall and it was great capturing their first moments seeing each other. And who doesn't love golf cart rides?? It was also cool to capture all of their friends as a lot of them are also teachers as well. After that, it was such a beautiful moment to watch Stephanie meet with both of her parents to give them each a hand written card and a gift to match.

From their engagement session at the Tower of the Americas to their amazing wedding day, their story has been something that I have had an amazing time capturing. I'm so excited that I had the chance to capture another love story for an amazing couple.

Jän & Jacqueline's Naval Air Station Wedding | Corpus Christi

I can only describe Jän and Jacqueline as two people who are deeply in love with each other. From their affectionate displays of PDA to the words of love expressed in their vows, it was such a pleasure to capture such an important day for them.

The day was simple. We spent time together as everyone prepared for the ceremony and when all was set to go, we took a quick drive over to NAS-CCAD for the remainder of the day. I can't think of a better way to have spent a saturday than in the presence of two people who love each other unconditionally. Congratulations to the bride and groom!
